A fastener is a component that mechanically joins two or more components together to form a structure. Fasteners are used for non-permanent joints. All components that have an external (male) or internal (female) thread can be called fasteners. The product we associate most with fasteners is screws and nut. Screws, bolts and nuts are one of the most important components of machinery. Without fasteners, everything would have just fallen apart. HISTORY The nail and screw are said to be one of the oldest inventions in the world. Screws have been used since the beginning to merge two different objects. The head of the screw was square at first and until the beginning of the 19th century. Then it became more standardized with round and hexagonal screw heads. DIFFERENT TYPES OF FASTENERS You have probably used both screws and nuts, as most industries use it. But since it is so versatile, it is available in a large number of designs. Therefore, it is good that you can get your screws and nuts exactly as you want, regardless of whether it is standard or tailored to your needs. In addition, fasteners are so much more than just screws and nuts. The different types of fasteners that are available are: SCREWS & BOLTS A bolt and screw is a threaded fastener with an external male. A bolt or screw can have either a full thread or a partial thread. PARTIAL THREADED Partially threaded fasteners is often used for bolts. There is a small unthreaded part after the screw head. The non-threaded part provides more strength than the threaded part, which makes it more resistant to other forces. FULLY THREADED Most often used for screws as they are screwed into a threaded hole all the way to the head. This is a good choice of thread type when side force will not be present for the screw. SCREW HEADS The type of screw head you choose for your screw or bolt has everything to do with the purpose. Needs strong force, a head that fits an external grip is best, but if you are short of space or do not require such a high force, a head with internal tool grip is best. SEXHANT SQUARE EXTERNAL TOOL GRIP An external tool grip is when you fasten the screw or bolt with the help of a tool such as a wrench on the outside of the head. INTERNAL TOOL GRIP An internal tool grip is when you fasten the screw or bolt via a tool pattern inside the head, such as a screwdriver. INSEX TRACK TORX SQUARE SIX- & SQUARE HEAD screws / bolts with hex and square heads are often of the coarser fasteners. When you use this type, you often need more power. This means that you use a tool that has an external grip. CALCULATE PRICE SLEEVE HEAD SCREW The length of the head is equal to the diameter of the screw. Is good when you lack space or want to hide the screw / bolt, but still need strength in your fastener. CALCULATE PRICE FLAT HEAD SCREW Flat head screw is also known as a countersunk screw because it has a very flat outer surface. The flat surface means that the screw does not protrude above the surface of the material, this means that it disappears into the material better and it becomes visually more attractive, and is not in the way if something is to travel along the surface where the screw is located. CALCULATE PRICE ROUND HEAD Rounded screw head is also called panhead has an oval top, but flat bottom. This causes the head to protrude beyond the material to which it is attached. As the head has more mass than, for example, a flat screw head, you can make the internal tool grip deeper, which means that you can apply more force when you attach it. CALCULATE PRICE SHAFT SCREW A shaft screw is a screw / bolt that is of the partially threaded type. The part that has no thread is thicker than the threaded part. Its difference in thickness creates an "axis". This allows the threaded part to be tightened properly, but still leave room for axial play in the non-threaded part. This means that the fastening element itself does not risk coming loose, but what you fasten together with the screw or bolt can move freely. CALCULATE PRICE PINOLE SCREW Pinol screw also called socket screw or pin screw is a type of screw that is used to attach two different components to each other and lock them. The difference between a standard screw and a pin screw is that it becomes much more stable to fasten two components together without having to use a nut as a counter force. This prevents the two components from becoming loose against each other. CALCULATE PRICE THUMBSCREW Thumb screw is a screw that uses an external grip head that can be screwed on and off with the help of the hand. This makes it easy and quick to mount on and off the screw and is used at those times where you need to lighten and close the screw quickly and several times. The advantage of this screw is that you do not need any tools. CALCULATE PRICE DIFFERENT TYPES OF SCREWS & BOLTS AVAILABLE: WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES ON A BOLT & SCREW? The only real difference between a screw and a bolt is the area of use. Bolts are used in through holes to later be fastened with a nut on the other side. Screws are turned in holes that are already threaded. Screws are more suitable for mounting as they only require one tool to be mounted, but bolts require a tool for the bolt and for the nut. NUTS A nut is a fastening element that is usually hexagonal (hexagon) and has an internal thread in the middle, also called a female. It uses an internal female so it is possible to bring the nut together with a male on a bolt to in turn bring several different components together. There are several different types of nuts for different purposes: SEQUENCE NUT The hexagon nut is the most common nut and has the task of locking two objects together with the help of a bolt. CALCULATE PRICE LOCK NUT A lid nut covers and protects the thread from being destroyed, while giving a slightly nicer look. CALCULATE PRICE FLANGE NUT The flange nut is similar to the hexagon nut but instead has a small collar (flange) that is to distribute pressure and thus reduce the stress level where the nut and component meet. With a flange nut, you do not need a separate washer, which then a hexagon nut may need. CALCULATE PRICE COUPLING NUT Coupling nut is a type of extension to threaded rods so you can connect several rods or extend them. A coupling nut is at least three times longer than a standard nut. The purpose of the washer is to distance, create suspension or have locking properties for fastening elements such as screws and bolts. A washer is also very important when you want to avoid galvanic corrosion. Galvanic corrosion is the rust that is created when two different metals meet, such as steel and aluminum. What gives the material better properties has to do with the dislocation mobility being redirected in the material. Dislocation is different from material to material and therefore also requires different types of methods to succeed in getting the properties you want. THE HARDENING METHODS AVAILABLE ARE: TEMPERING VACUUM HARDENING SET HARDENING HARDENING CARBONITRIDING NITROCARBURATION + AFTEROXIDATION VACUUM HARDENING Vacuum hardening is a thermal treatment method where tool steel heats the surface access to oxygen and gives hard properties to the material. After the material has been vacuum cured, it must be tempered . Depending on whether you want a nice surface without discoloration, you can make the tempering in the vacuum oven. If there are no specific surface requirements or requirements for the appearance, then you can use the cheaper method, to tarnish in an ordinary tempering furnace.
